At around 12:10 p-m, a white 2006 Chevrolet Silverado driven by 23-year-old Elizabeth Wilson, of Newton was eastbound on U-S 50. She lost control of the vehicle due to the icy roads and left the roadway and entered the south ditch. The vehicle hit an embankment causing it to roll and land on its top. The passengers in the vehicle were, 18-year-old Kay Culver, 65-year-old Glenda Culver and an infant child all from Newton were trapped in the vehicle and extracted by Fire and EMS personnel.
All occupants were wearing seat-belts and the infant was in a child safety seat. All three adult passengers were transported by EMS to Via Cristi St. Francis Regional Medical Center in Wichita with non- life threatening injuries. The infant child was not injured.
