TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Fire crews are investigating a blaze that destroyed a downtown Topeka building and left other businesses with smoke and water damage.
The Topeka Capital-Journal reports that the fire started early Friday. No injuries were reported.
Downtown Topeka Inc. president and CEO Vince Frye said that he had met with the owners of the two hardest-hit businesses, HHB BBQ and Top City Soda Pop. He says other downtown businesses were “quick to respond” in the fire’s aftermath. The damaged businesses were offered temporary storage space and other support.
